Dear Friends and Family,

Pumpkin pie.. turkey.. cheese balls with crackers.. and fun lovin’ okies! I’m lucky enough to get to spend Thanksgiving here in good ol’ Chickasha Oklahoma! Sister Webber and I will be staying here for sure until the end of December. We’re pretty excited because we get to enjoy getting to know people from all over at the Festival of Lights soon. Not only do we get to enjoy the pretty lights but we get more time to love the people here and to see many more miracles that lie ahead.
Last week we had an awesome miracle in Amber! We went to this small town to find a less active but couldn’t find her so we decided to tract. After knocking on a few doors with no answer we started walking and spotted a man walking down the street. We went up to him and got to know him along with share the restoration and what we believe as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As we testified Jerry got teary eyed and told us he wants to learn more and come to church. He even said “girls you might change me into a Mormon!” haha he continued to thank us for all that we do and then we went on our way. The next day Sister Webber and I were walking on the side of the road in Chickasha when Jerry in his black truck passed by waving and turned around to pull over and talk to us. He told us how he was planning on coming to church the next day. On Sunday we eagerly waited to see if he would show.. by 10:03 we stepped out and called him. Come to find out Jerry drove all the way from Amber to the Church but when he was waiting in the parking lot he saw members walking in and felt he wasn’t fancy enough to come in. It broke our hearts hearing this on the phone but assured him Heavenly Father just wants us to be there, that as long as we’re wearing our best we have nothing to be ashamed about. We’re hoping and praying that Jerry, especially with the trials that he’s facing right now, will rely on Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to help him. I know that The Book of Mormon can calm our troubled hearts and that God will speak to us if we take the time to study.  I know that because many of my prayers have been answered while reading the scriptures, they’re written for us.
Another Investigator named Labinot invited us over for dinner last night along with his neighbors the Reynolds. He cooked a ton of yummy food and we had a blast as all the kids ran throughout the house playing hide and seek. Their hiding spots were pretty on point, especially the little boy hiding behind a skinny lamp. Labinot went to his kids primary performance in Anadarko, so we are going to try to get him to go there every Sunday but have lessons with him here in Chickasha. We’re praying that he too will make the time to read The Book of Mormon. We showed him the Mormon Message ‘Earthly Father, Heavenly Father’ and I think it touched his heart. Fathers play an important role, I know that our Heavenly Father loves us so much.
Our Branch President, President Gurlach told us his vision for the Branch is Less Actives and trying  help families come back. So that is what we’re going to focus on this transfer! 🙂 With Holidays coming up we hope to help others realize how important Church is and that it’s a commandment from God for a reason. Church blesses our lives and gives us the joy that we desire, not only that we show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that we love Them.  I know this is His Church and that we all need to reach out to help bring lost sheep back Just as the scripture in 3 Nephi 27:21 says “Verily, verily, I say unto you, this is my gospel; and ye know the things that ye must do in my church; for the works which ye have seen me do that shall ye also do; for that which ye have seen me do even that shall ye do;” I pray that y’all will strive to be more like Christ and help someone or yourself get to Church to thank Him and show him how much we care. ❤
Heres a sweet Thanksgiving scripture to brighten your day!
“That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ; that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may be in, in spirit and in truth; and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you.” -Alma 34:38
Take time to think of all your blessings ❤ I know I’m blessed to have a beautiful family! I’m blessed to be a member of Jesus Christ’s Church and to give others the opportunity to come closer to Him and our Father in Heaven. 🙂 I sure love them and I love y’all!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
 Sincerely,
Sister Long
(P.S. Michelle got baptized! We’re so happy for her and her cute daughter Denalli! <3)
